How did you get rid of your timeshare? Have you used the "giveaway program"?

September 4th, 2010 1 comment

Here’s my story, what’s your story? I hope my story will help someone. I purchased a timeshare 6 years ago, have yet to use it once. (sucker!) 2 years after, I paid money and I listed it with vacationregister.com. Ed McMahan convinced me they would sell my timeshare in 6 mos or less! (sucker!) Beware of vacation register as they changed their phone numbers, you have to email them to contact them and after 2 emails, I’ve been waiting 3 days to hear from them. Anyway, the interest rate on the timeshare was high, so I took a cash advance on a credit card, got the deed and just finished my last payment to my credit card last month. I have contacted companies about selling it, but it’s worth nothing. Ebay has them listed for 1.00. There’s a program called "giveaway" and as long as it is paid in full and all dues are paid up to date, you can pay a company to take it out of your name….giving it away, of course! No, paying someone to take it from you! I sat through 45 minute phone conferences/online presentations from Timeshare Relief to learn I can pay 95 to have it taken away, I’ve had Timeshare Sales Today say they’ll do it for an 0 fee + 9 closing costs. And today I found a company that sounded actually genuine! He told me to keep it, use it…but if I wanted, I could pay them 9 closing costs + fee and they would take it from me! It sounds too good to be true. If this works, I will be updating this question in hopes of helping others.

Have you done a give away program to get rid of your timeshare??? Did it free you from the lifelong obligation? Did you get anymore bills for maintenance fees?
I wanted to get rid of my timeshare / give away / donate it and if you do too, you can try what I did. Pay it off on a credit card (cut your losses before adding more maintenance fees) and pay IA Vacations in Tennessee 866-660-3009 to get you out of your time share. I paid them Friday & by 10am Monday morning, a lady from the closing company had called and emailed me that she had already contacted my resort and I would be out of my timeshare commitment in 3-4 weeks and I will be able to call my resort and they will have no record of me as an owner anymore. I am so excited to put this behind me. Best days of timeshare ownership-the day it’s no longer being "willed" to my loved ones. I will submit an update in the comments section as to whether this was successful or not, so look for my notes & wish me luck!

How can I get out of my Bluegreen timeshare?

September 1st, 2010 1 comment

Bought a Bluegreen timeshare with good intentions but haven’t been able to use it at all so the money is being wasted. I would love to sell it, but most companies who say they will list timeshares want to charge ridiculous fees up-front with no guarantee of a sale.

Does anybody know the cheapest and quickest way to get rid of/sell a Bluegreen timeshare?

I really need to sell my timeshare in las vegas who is a good company to sell it through?

I talk to the people that sell them but it seems they all want money up front I just worry that I might be getting ripped off

Is it possible to actually sell a timeshare for close to what you paid ?
